If my calculations are correct, Noah would have known the following:

* Enosh ~90 years
* Kenan ~200 years
* Mahalalel ~240 years
* Jared ~350 years
* Methuselah ~600 years
* Lamech ~580 years

Methuselah's life would have overlapped Adam's by almost 250 years. Noah's life overlapped Methuselah's by 600 years

The significance? Noah's and Abraham's life would have overlapped by about 50 years.

So, effectively between Adam and Abraham, Abraham would have been able to speak with someone who had spoken to someone that knew Adam personnally.

Put in modern context - That would be equivalent to my son, hearing from me stories I heard about our family history including civil war stories I heard directly from my Great Grandmother whose father fought in the Civil War.
