01-02 Genesis, Chapter 2

Chapter 2 - Pre-diluvian Earth and Mankind's First Acts

After the 6 creative days, God blesses and rests on the 7th Day.

On the pre-diluvian Earth, there is no rain. The plants are watered by a heavy mist.

Man is created by being formed from "dust" and having the "breath of life" blown into his nostrils. Man becomes a "Living Soul". God calls the man, Adam.

God plants Eden and places the newly created Man, Adam, in Eden.

In the Garden of Eden God places two trees, the "Tree of Life" and the "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil." Man is commanded to not eat of the "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil". The penalty for eating of the tree is death.

Four great rivers divide the land: Pichon, Gihon, Hiddekel and Euphrates.

God gives Adam a helper. Causes a deep sleep to come over Adam and then God removes a rib from Adam and closes the wound. God builds the rib into a compliment to Man, a Woman. Adam names his companion, "Woman" because the "Woman" came from the Man. Adam also gives his first recorded decree, "A Man will leave his mother and father and stick to his wife and the two will become one flesh."

The animals are brought to Adam and he names them.

Adam and Eve continue in the Garden naked and without shame.

God takes a rib from Adam and builds it into Eve. Does this mean that Adam and Eve shared the same DNA? Reference Romans 5:12, "through one man, sin entered into the World..."
